MORE THAN ONE.
MORE THAN ONE.
Your success rate in any career in this decade is tied to your skill stacking. Have you heard about the word skill stacking? Let me simplify it. Think of a Lawyer having the skills of public speaking, writing, marketing strategy and good Social media strategies. Such a man will have advantages over a lawyer that has narrowed knowledge only in Law.
Trying to be the best only in one thing is not the smartest way to success. Some Engineers are known to be good with figures and not with words. Simply because of wrong orientation I guess.
Steve Job, was an exception. Have you ever considered the beautiful designs of Apple products? He was never the best in design and packaging. He was far from the top 1% in the design industry, It was said about him that, he combined his various designs skills with deep insight about people's need, tech knowledge, a strategic mind, and his salesmanship prowess to build a strong corporation that is advanced in technology and beautiful design.
How far would Steve Job's company have gone in the midst of competition if not for stack skills.
Someone said, “ It is easier and effective to be in the top 10% in several skills — your “stack”- than it is to be in the top 1% in any one skill.”
The application of the above statement is to acquire unique and complementary skills. It's time for you to look at additional skills that will make you to become job magnet. One skill is not enough. Choose skills that don't go together, but complement each other. Think of a Police man that is a DJ and also a sound businessman. Remember it's not necessarily being in the top 1% at any one thing — you need to be pretty good in more than one thing that complements. When this amalgamation takes place you have professional advantage over your competitors. You become an authority and a reference.
A knowledge of the use of firearms is good, but you can't use it to acquire academic knowledge. Academic knowledge is good but an entrepreneurial knowledge will convert the academic knowledge to money. Then the knowledge, and the use of firearms will secure your wealth and business premises in the day of trouble.
Think about it; the biblical David was a king, psalmist, Warrior, Commander in Chief of Armed Forces, and a prophet.
My advice for you is that as the world is evolving we need to evolve so that we don't be at the mercy of our employers and the current change.
One skill is not good enough for your glorious future.
Rapid Success,
Mike Munroe.
